Emotional intelligence improves relationships and performance

It's emotional and social intelligence that differentiates high performers from average performers. The ESCI 360° provides a snapshot of how you and others perceive your abilities.

Did you know?  Being self and socially aware and knowing how to use that awareness helps us to achieve our goals.

Emotional and social intelligence begins with self-awareness which is the ability to tune into our emotions and to recognize how those emotions are affecting us and our performance. Daniel Goleman, author and thought leader in the field, speaks of an inner radar that "holds the key to managing what we do - and just as important, what we don't do".

Emotional Intelligence is critical to success.

Emotional intelligence contributes to professional, academic, and social success. The World Economic Forum's "Future of Jobs Report (2018)" shares that emotional intelligence is a crucial top 10 job skill for success today and in the future. The rise of artificial intelligence is unlikely to replace the need for emotional intelligence.

Emotions?

In a few words, emotions are comprised of our feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. There are hundreds of emotions with different blends, variations, and nuances; they inform us about what we are experiencing and, when we listen to them, can help us to determine the best course of action.

Emotional Intelligence is learnable.

Unlike IQ, emotional intelligence can be learned and developed through feedback and practice. Emotional intelligence is comprised of 4 domains of which 2 are inner-facing (self-awareness, self-management) and 2 are outer-facing (social awareness, relationship management). Within the 4 domains are a total of 12 specifically defined and observable competencies; each competency consists of attitudes and behaviors that can be applied at work or elsewhere.

The ESCI 360° by Korn Ferry Hay Group establishes a starting point.

The Emotional and Social Competency Inventory ("ESCI") is a 360° feedback tool that allows us to compare our perception of our ability with the perception that others have of our ability. For each of the 12 competencies, we can see what is working well, what could be even better, and what to do next to improve our performance.
